Thaddeus Went On An Adventure!! (in Pennsylvania)

After leaving Jamie and Sara in Brownsville, Thaddeus traveled to visit OSM/VISTA Anesa in Pottstown, PA. He arrived in Montgomery County and discovered he was right in the middle of the Schuylkill River National & State Heritage Area!

Like most OSM/VISTAs, Thad jumped right in and got his feet wet doing things he had never done before! His morning consisted of kayaking with a fellow Heritage Area visitor...ummm...or networking is what he really meant. He's hoping that maybe he can get reach out to a few schools and teach them about the river!

He also tried to go biking along the trail and chose the smallest mountain bike to ride. However, that didn't work out as planned so he was forced to ride along in the basket while exploring the beautiful Schuylkill River.
But enough fun had been had and it was time to get down to business! Thad learned that trying to reconfigure trail counters to get them reinstalled on the trail is a messy business, but very important because the Heritage Area needs to know how many people are actually using the trail!
Good thing he was there to supervise Anesa while she installed the new counter box and counter out on the trail!
Thad saw many visitors out enjoying the 80 degree weather biking or walking along the trail. Both he and Anesa were very jealous that they were getting to walk around in shorts while they were stuck in pants for work...

But work is what he came for and Thad accomplished his goals! He was able to oversee the installation of five trail counters along 30 miles of trail! On to the next project though, he is on his way to the capitol!

Thad Visits Brownsville

Thad helped us set up the new Dell laptops from the OSM and the ACCT this week.  He told Jamie all about the possibilities of using Google Drive to share documents within the office and beyond, and how using technology effectively can build capacity for small nonprofits.

Thaddeus helped Sara make final changes on the Mid Monongahela River Water Trail Map today.  After months of work, and years of grantwriting and fundraising - the Mid Mon Map will be completed this year, and its all thanks to Thad's tremendous insights and levelheaded decision making abilities.  (And all of the current and former ACCT VISTAs who worked on it.)
